Active Black Country Announce Winners of Opening School Facilities Prize Draw

We are delighted to announce the winners of our Opening School Facilities prize draw.

Active Black Country has been successful in obtaining funding for a project to support schools to open up their sports facilities, in order to broaden the offer of extra-curricular and out of school sporting and physical activities available to pupils and the wider community.

From November to the 20th December 2019, schools across the Black Country were invited to take part in a short online survey which sought to develop insight on the existing landscape by understanding how many schools currently open their facilities for community use and what the barriers are that prevent or deter schools from doing so.

As an incentive to take part in the survey, all schools were entered into a prize draw, where one school from each Local Authority area will be awarded with a voucher worth £100 towards physical activity equipment.

Tim Aldred, Local Partnership Officer (Education) at Active Black Country said:

We have been delighted with the response to the survey from schools across the Black Country. We received 136 responses and the insight and findings gathered will inform the next steps and key learnings for the project."

The winning schools are:

  • Dudley: Redhill School
  • Sandwell: The Federation of Abbey Infant and Abbey Junior Schools
  • Walsall: Alumwell Junior School
  • Wolverhampton: Heath Park
