Finance specialist joins Active Black Country Board

Active Black Country has strengthened its governance after appointing finance expert Patrick O’Driscoll to the Board.

Patrick has over a decade of experience in finance, first as a commercial auditor and currently as an Associate Director at Grant Thornton UK LLP’s Transaction Advisory Services team within Corporate Finance.

He is passionate about physical activity, having played many sports from a young age. As a mental health first aider, he recognises the important links between physical activity and mental health.

Patrick brings this experience and his financial expertise to support Active Black Country’s work to get people moving more and being physically active.

“I’m thrilled to join the Active Black Country Board. Our mission to use the power of physical activity and sport to influence opportunities for everyone in the Black Country to lead an active, healthy lifestyle, is vital to tackling the multiple and complex pre-existing inequalities across the region,” he says.

“I’m looking forward to playing a part to help create a future where everyone, regardless of background or ability, can lead an active and healthy life.”

Patrick lives and works in the West Midlands, having grown up in Worcester and moved to Birmingham in 2014. He plays cricket for Moseley Ashfield Cricket Club, where he has served as a committee member and treasurer, and also plays social padel.

Active Black Country has also bolstered its team based in Halesowen.

Lisa Barrett joins as Impact Programme Officer. Lisa has a background in administration and management. She’s developed a broad and versatile skill set that supports the smooth running of day-to-day office operations.

Lisa's experience has equipped her with strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving abilities, which she will apply in the new role. She is committed to supporting the team and helping to highlight the positive impact of its work across the Black Country.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity to be part of a meaningful, community-based team making a real difference across the Black Country,” she says.
