Sense Active launch new virtual training

Sense Active have partnered with UK Coaching, the UK’s professional association for sports coaches, launching a new online learning classroom to ensure anyone facilitating activities for those with sensory impairments or complex disabilities feel better equipped and more confident.

‘Connecting Differently Through Sport’ has been designed for people who are interested in engaging people with sensory impairments and complex disabilities in sport or physical activities. It offers a mixture of theory, learning, and practical activities to support a fully inclusive approach and is accredited by CIMSPA. The workshop has been transformed into an online learning classroom to ensure delivery regardless of social distancing restrictions, and will allow a greater number of people to improve their understanding of impairment types, barriers to participation, communication styles and useful adaptations.

The online learning classroom will be delivered alongside the face to face workshop throughout 2021 and is suitable for sports coaches, instructors, volunteers, teachers, teaching assistants and leisure staff.

Alissa Ayling, Head of Sport & Physical Activity at Sense, said:

We are proud to be partnering with UK Coaching in offering our workshop through an online learning classroom. We want to continue to build confidence and knowledge in the workforce, and this provides a great opportunity during unprecedented times to ensure these opportunities are still available. UK Coaching have a wealth of expertise, and we look forward to future collaborations.”

Hayley Khan, Head of Learning and Assessment at UK Coaching, said:

We’re so pleased to be working with Sense to ensure this new online training reaches and develops coaches, so they can deliver coaching sessions inclusive of those with sensory impairments or complex disabilities. Through our work and partnerships, we are striving to create a diverse coaching community that can work confidently in any environment and provide great person-centred coaching experiences.”
