Drowning is preventable.
Even one drowning is one too many.

WHY IS WATER SAFETY EDUCATION SO IMPORTANT?

Eighty per cent of people in the Black Country live within a mile of open water
number of primary school leavers in the Black Country NOT able to demonstrate safe self-rescue

We are supporting the Canal & River Trust, Swim England and the Royal Life Saving Society UK's vital water safety messages to children and young people across the Black Country. We want families, carers, community groups and educators to talk about water safety with children to raise awareness of the risks around open water. With the right water safety education, accidental drownings are preventable – everyone can enjoy water safely.

WHAT IS THE BLACK COUNTRY WATER SAFETY RESOURCE HUB?

The Black Country Water Safety Resource Hub is aimed at educators, community groups and families. It provides a range of lesson plans, practical activities and interactive videos to support the delivery of water safety education.

In partnership with the Royal Life Saving Society UK, the Canal and River Trust and Swim England, we have provided a range of resources to support educators, community groups and parents/guardians to talk about water safety with children.
