Community clubs and organisations serve an incredibly important role within Black Country Communities providing opportunities for people to be active, realising a range of health benefits, bringing the community together and providing opportunities for people to develop new skills that can help them gain employment or improve their career prospects.
There are also a number of communities-based organisations operating as social enterprises using sport and physical activity to deliver social change. The Active Black Country Partnership supports the development of sports clubs, community interest companies and social enterprise, as they will help to help build a more inclusive, sustainable and prosperous future. They all provide an important way of tackling the Black Countries sporting and social challenges, especially among inactive and disadvantaged populations.
We understand the high importance placed on community rooted organisations/groups to enhance services, develop initiatives whilst also striving to ensure their long-term sustainability. However, we also recognise that community organisations/sports clubs have limited time, capacity and confidence to put themselves in the strongest possible position to attract investment and maximise opportunities. Therefore, we have a range of support mechanisms available to Clubs and Organisations across the Black Country.
