Active Black Country has continued the restructure of its executive and recently welcomed Mark Bisson and Alexandra Hughes to the team.

Mark will lead the development and implementation of Active Black Country’s communications and advocacy strategy as the partnership’s Strategic Communications Lead. This is a critical role in raising the profile of the Black Country and highlighting the work local partners undertake to get people active.

An experienced communications professional and sports journalist, Mark will use an array of communication tools and media platforms to promote awareness of community projects, whilst raising the profile of Black Country partners.

Mark said: “I’m thrilled to be joining Active Black Country at an exciting time in its growth plans, as the team ramps up their place-based initiatives to facilitate opportunities for local people to be physically active. I’m looking forward to working closely with our partners to elevate the achievements and success stories of local people.”

Alex will fulfil the role of Business Administrator and support the business and financial administration management of Active Black Country. She will ensure efficient and effective office processes, management of financial data and transactions, and operations.

Alex said: “It’s great to be part of this dynamic team. I’ll be using my vast experience in office administration to manage multiple tasks and support colleagues in the smooth delivery of Active Black Country projects.”

Both roles will be key positions as part of the ABC executive team and help us unite partners to create a future Black Country where all ages, abilities and backgrounds are able to be active, move more and play sport.

Ian Carey, CEO of Active Black Country, said: “I am delighted we have been able to secure new colleagues of the calibre and experience of Mark and Alex. They have both fitted into the team brilliantly and collectively bring a wealth of experience and skills to support our mission to use the power of sport and physical activity so everyone living in the Black Country can access the benefits of an active lifestyle.”
