Active Black Country Highlights Partnership Work in 2024-25 Impact Report

We are proud to share our Impact Report for 2024-25 – and this year it's in an online easy-to-read format.

Active Black Country works in partnership to unite people and organisations who have a role to play in addressing the inequalities that prevent people in the Black Country from leading an active lifestyle. Across Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton, there are thousands of people changing lives, improving neighbourhoods and contributing positively to our local area. Active Black Country offers a range of support to strengthen those communities.

This Impact Report, designed by The Economic Intelligence Unit on behalf of Active Black Country, celebrates our partnership work, highlighting inspirational programmes and flagship activities that get people moving more and being physically active.

The collaborative efforts underscore the dedication of our stakeholders, strategic partners, communities and local people working towards the shared objectives in our ‘Creating an Active Black Country’ strategy, which supports Sport England’s Uniting the Movement 10-year vision to transform lives and communities through sport and physical activity.

In a landmark year, we gained charitable status, held major launch events for the Black Country Water Safety Programme and Black Country Canals Strategy and staged the Active Black Country Conference.

Thanks to increased funding from Sport England, we ramped up work with partners and community organisations, facilitating a series of exciting projects across the four Local Authorities to empower people to become more active, move more and play sport.

What you can read about?
  • The report is divided into sections, showcasing work across 5 thematic areas: Communities; Education, Children & Young People; Health & Wellbeing; Healthy Placemaking & Active Environments; and Workforce, Skills & Employment.
  • Links are embedded to media coverage, video content, case studies, and stories published on our social media platforms, highlighting the impact of projects.
  • Data, insights and learning sections show how we are tackling the barriers to inactivity with partners.
  • Community voices are featured – providing a snapshot of feedback from people who have benefited from programmes and initiatives.

We would like to thank all our key funders for committing investment to tackling physical inactivity over the past year.
