Give a Girl a Bike empowers women and children to cycle with confidence

Give a Girl a Bike programme deliverer Paulette Williams-Jones leads weekly cycling sessions at Willenhall Memorial Park in Walsall, helping women and children build confidence on two wheels.

The Wednesday and Friday morning sessions are also designed to boost participants’ physical activity levels, whilst providing the many benefits that cycling can bring, including the opportunity to:

  • Gain independence and freedom through cycling;
  • Meet new people and build lasting friendships;
  • Spend more time enjoying the outdoors;
  • Increase their physical activity;
  • Improve their mental wellbeing and overall quality of life.

Paulette said:

I love bike riding because it encourages people to get outdoors in the fresh air for their health and wellbeing. It’s just a marvellous thing to do.

At Active Black Country, our mission is to help people lead happier, healthier and more active lives by breaking down barriers to physical activity.

Give a Girl a Bike shares that vision by creating welcoming, inclusive opportunities that empower women and children to gain confidence, connect with their community and discover the lifelong benefits of cycling.

We’re delighted to work alongside Give a Girl a Bike and support the fantastic work they're doing to inspire more people in the Black Country to get active, build confidence and experience the freedom that cycling can bring.
