ParkPlay launches FREE weekly activity sessions in West Park, Wolverhampton
Wolverhampton’s West Park is holding FREE weekly community-led events run by ParkPlay, which are open to everyone, including children and families.
Every Saturday at 10am, trained local volunteers put on active and inclusive games with the purpose of bringing the community together to socialise, enjoy the great outdoors, move more, and have fun.
How it’s helping people in Wolverhampton
ParkPlay believes that play is for everyone, so having this project set up in Wolverhampton is an ideal way to get more people active. This is especially important as the Black Country remains the region with the highest levels of inactivity at 34.9%, which is well above the England average of 24.7%.
The weekly sessions at West Park help people by:
- Creating better-connected communities
- Helping people be more active whilst having fun outdoors in green spaces
- Improving physical and mental health outcomes
- Creating volunteering opportunities and helping people improve their communication, teamwork, and self-confidence
- Improving park safety and reducing anti-social behaviour
- Addressing health inequalities
Active Black Country is happy to support projects like ParkPlay. As a charity, we believe physical activity and sport have the power to transform people's lives, and everyone has the right to improve their quality of life through movement. ParkPlay is a great example of how bringing people together through activity can create healthier, happier communities.
