Trials for Darren Bent football academy at Aldersley

Future football hopefuls are invited to take part in trials to secure a place at Darren Bent’s football academy at WV Active Aldersley.

Headed up by the ex-England international and former Premier League star, DB Academy is offering current year 11 students the chance to take part in trials to earn a place on its full-time football and education programme.

Those who are successful will be able to study for two years to gain a BTEC qualification whilst being professionally coached to develop their football skills.

Sean McBurney, WV Active Manager, said:

Using WV Active Aldersley as the academy’s home is great for the city.

We’re delighted that Darren Bent and his team have chosen WV Active Aldersley as the home for their new football academy. With a number of football grass and artificial pitches, an excellent gym, outdoor track, plus meeting rooms for teaching to take place, we’ve got everything the academy needs.

Not only is it great for the city, it’s also a fantastic opportunity for teenagers in Wolverhampton who are looking for a future in sport.”

Darren Bent, Owner of DB Academy, said:

We came to Aldersley and it had a nice feel to it. From the staff to the area itself - it just seemed like the perfect fit for the academy.

It’s important that kids have got a back-up plan and they’re not just here to play football. There’s so many opportunities out there for kids, and if we can play a small part in helping them, then we’ll be happy.”

The next trial day will be held on Wednesday, April 24 at WV Active Aldersley and current year 11 students are invited to take part.
