Winners announced at last nights Black Country Sport and Physical Activity Awards

Last night (Thursday 4th October), at Himley Hall, Dudley, the six winners of the 2018 Black Country Sport and Physical Activity Awards were announced.

The event, sponsored by the University of Wolverhampton, was hosted by Pete Morgan, and the ceremony once again showcased the successes and inspirational stories of Black Country clubs, coaches, projects, sportspeople and unsung heroes over 6 different categories.

Five of our winners have now been put forward to represent the Black Country at the West Midlands Community Sports Awards in December.

Our winners and runners up are as follows:

Aspiring Talent
Winner - Bradley Addison (Powerchair Football)
Runner Up - Kaitriona Grewal (Taekwondo)

Community Club
Winner - Special Olympics Sandwell
Runner Up - Yellow Army Running Club

Community Coach
Winner - Tessa Goodhead (Roller Skating)
Runner Up - Sarah Brown (Netball)  

Community Project
Winner - Wolverhampton Street Cricket Project (Staffordshire Cricket / The Way Youth Zone)
Runner Up - Our Albion (The Albion Foundation)

Power of Sport
Winner - James Birks (Powerchair Football - Albion Foundation)
Runner Up - Daniel Jones (Special Olympics Sandwell)

Unsung Hero
Winner - Rita Vanes (Dudley Ladies Running Club)  
Runner Up - Gillian Collins (Special Olympics Sandwell)
