Black Country Business League launched for 2016

Following on from the huge success of last year’s Business League, which attracted 30 teams from across the county, Birmingham FA’s Business League is back and open for business!

The FA is pleased to announce that 4 new leagues will start in 2016 in North Birmingham, South Birmingham, Coventry, Solihull & Warwickshire, and the Black Country. The winner of each division will meet for semi-finals followed by a prestigious finale to be hosted at Birmingham FA’s HQ.

The Business Leagues offers the ideal opportunity for colleagues to play competitive 11 a-side football that they can fit in around their work commitments. Shorter matches, flexible timings, and shared costs allow businesses of all shapes and sizes to get involved.

The Business League will start in February and this is how it works:

• One game per month to be played whenever convenient for both teams
• Home team to sort pitch and inform opposition of venue and cost
• Games either 25 minutes each way or a straight 50 minutes
• Match day squad of 17
• Rolling substitutions
• Referee provided by Birmingham FA, teams split the cost
• Fixtures, results and league tables updated by County FA
• £10 Entry per team

The league engaged over 500 participants from a variety of sites and staff rooms in 2014, earning it national recognition and nomination for ‘Sporting Initiative of the Year’ at the first Birmingham Awards. Last year the league attracted business giants such as British Gas, Jaguar Land Rover and Deutsche Bank, to local City Councils, schools, and small Birmingham businesses.
