Free Exercise Sessions in Dudley

People in Dudley can benefit from a number of free physical activity sessions.

Dudley Council is promoting the Sport England funded sessions, which are aimed at people aged 14 and over who are currently inactive.

They are currently led by a qualified sport and physical activity coach and it is hoped the sessions, which are part of the Black Country in Motion campaign, will build on volunteer involvement to be self-sustained in the local community.

From Monday 13 October there will be a 10 week course at Dudley Wood Learning Centre. Running from 9.30am to 11.30am it incorporates a one hour health talk, including information on food and nutrition, and a one hour physical activity taster session, which will give participants the chance to try something new each week.

Women can enjoy a ladies only exercise class at Wrens Nest Community Centre every Monday from 20 October from 9.30am to 10.30am.

A running for fitness session at Priory Park will also continue every Wednesday evening from 6pm to 7pm. Participants meet at the pavilion building and can build up the fitness needed to run up to five kilometres.

Councillor Rachel Harris, cabinet member responsible for health, said:

"We want everyone in Dudley to experience the health benefits that come with being physically active.

"Dudley Council and Black Country in Motion are working together to support these fantastic introduction to fitness sessions.”

Simon Hall, Director of the Black Country BeActive Partnership, said:

"Black Country in Motion is a unique programme, and I am excited to hear about the new sessions in the Dudley borough.

"Getting people physically active is an important priority for us across the whole of the Black Country. Through this programme local communities have the opportunity to request and participate in activities of their choice.”
