Have your say! Launch of Black Country Physical Activity Survey

Active Black Country, in partnership with the councils for Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton, has launched a huge Black Country-wide survey to find out what matters to local people about moving more, being active and playing sport.

We want to hear from people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds, so we can understand what stops them from being active and how we can work with partners to increase activity levels to support good mental and physical health.

Community engagement consultant Altair is conducting the Black Country Physical Activity Survey as part of Active Black Country’s place partnership work with Sport England and the four Local Authorities.

Why is it important?

The survey findings will help to:

  • Learn what people need.
  • Work with local groups and partners to share knowledge.
  • Make being active a priority.

Ian Carey, Chief Executive of Active Black Country, said: “The survey is more than a questionnaire – it’s an opportunity for local voices to influence real change. We want to ensure as many people as possible across the Black Country can have their say - and we’re doing everything possible to engage them through partner events and opportunities.

“Through listening to the collective voices of local people, communities and partners, the survey will reflect the context and need across the Black Country. As part of a wider community engagement exercise, it will support our application to Sport England for new ‘place partner’ investment to help transform opportunities for physical activity across the region’s communities.”

Voucher prize draw - By completing the survey, participants will be entered into our prize draw with the chance to win one of 10 x £25 vouchers including energy, supermarket, amazon, retailer prizes.

The survey will be conducted through February and March, with the findings expected to be published in early April.

The findings will be used together with insights gathered from a wider community engagement exercise to help shape future physical activity opportunities in collaboration with a range of partners, and to influence policy, strategy, investment and delivery of interventions.
