Sector Skills Action Plan survey

Black Country Local Enterprise Partnership recognise understanding the demand for skills by employers and developing a fit for purpose Black Country workforce is fundamental to supporting business growth and the important contribution both our transformational and enabling sectors play in developing the area’s economic prosperity. 

The Sport and Physical Activity sector is the first enabling sector to take the lead in producing a Sector Skills Action Plan, which has a twin approach to determining the skill gaps and shortages for the sector but also its contribution and value for employers, in line with Government Strategy.

In response to this and on behalf of both the Black Country BeActive Partnership & Black Country Local Enterprise Partnership, Black Country Consortium Limited have appointed Shared Intelligence to develop a sector skills action plan to support the enabling sector – Sport and Physical activity - identified in the Black Country Strategic Economic Plan. 

This aims to determine the skill gaps and shortages across a range of sectors and the extent to which the desired non-technical skills could be developed through participation or leadership within sport and physical activity. We are also determining the value of sports contribution to the recruitment, retention and development of staff within your company. This is key to enable us to determine the value of the sector to driving the employment and skills priorities of the Local Enterprise Partnership.

To enable us to gain this understanding, we seek your co-operation in completing a short survey to gain your views which will shape the direction of the Sector Skills Action Plan.

The closing date for responses is Tuesday 5th January 2016.

Governance and Findings

A steering group has been formed comprising of local stakeholders and will meet early January and mid-February. The purpose of the steering group is to advise and advocate this work, align with national/local policy and strategy, providing advice and guidance on the implementation with local networks.  

We will aim to launch the Sector Skills Plan early February 2016. The report and findings will be available to all local stakeholders and consultees.
