New Team Members for Active Black Country

In 2018, the role of the Active Black Country Partnership changed, and sees a shift to a local strategic function focused on inactivity, under-represented groups and wider socio-economic outcomes.

This allows for greater flexibility for individual partnerships to develop their own plans and measures of success to meet local needs.

The partnership has restructured with revised roles across the team to meet the new direction and ensure we drive forward a collaborative approach needed to get people active by ensuring sport and physical activity works in partnership with local government and other agencies to realise broader socio-economic outcomes for communities and residents.

The Partnership covers all four Local Authority areas within the Black Country with an officer taking responsibility for a specific local authority area, as well as an overarching key strategic theme.

This enables the revised team to use their expertise to meet the unique needs of the region's diverse local communities, and develop strong local relationships with key stakeholders and partners which ensure the best available insight, knowledge and resources reach the heart of our communities to tackle its large-scale challenges.

The Partnership Officer roles and a supporting Programme Co-ordinator provide a wide range of support to enable the delivery of our Towards an Active Black Country' Strategic Framework, securing the development and implementation of plans which are consistent, coherent and reflect national, county and local level needs.

Our expertise comes from our agreed partnership way of working :-  we will work with our communities to understand the barriers and find solutions through listening, learning from, acting on and facilitating the things that matter to our people, communities and partners who share our purpose in valuing Sport and Physical Activity as a vehicle to drive social and economic change and enable sport to grow across the region.

The Partnership Officer roles cover the four strategic themes identified through consultation with local partners of Education, Health and Wellbeing, Communities and Workforce, Skills and Employment, and the Partnership is delighted to welcome the new team members into post.

Team members will be in touch with relevant organisations and individuals in due course to establish meetings.
