Supporting Workplace Mental Health in the Black Country

Local mental health charity Dudley Mind is taking the wellbeing message to Black Country employers to help improve the mental health of their employees.

With stress and mental health problems being among the leading causes of both short and long term sickness absence, Dudley Mind is looking to engage with and support local employers in the Black Country to take a proactive approach to mental health and wellbeing in the workplace.

Mark Evans, who leads on workplace wellbeing at Dudley Mind said:

With mental health problems being so prevalent in the workplace, affecting as many as one in three staff, we are keen to work with local employers and encourage them to start talking about mental health and take action to improve the health of their employees.”

He added:

Being active is proven to reduce the symptoms of stress, anxiety and depression and improve mental health overall so there's a strong business case for organisations to promote both physical and mental health for all staff. That’s why we’re pleased to be working with the Workplace Challenge Black Country to promote better physical and mental health for local employees.”

Looking after the wellbeing of your employees isn’t just the right thing to do, it makes real business sense.  Actively promoting employee wellbeing leads to greater staff productivity, morale and retention, and reduced sickness absence, which in turn supports business growth.
