Interest in developing female only satellite clubs

We have launched a new ring fenced fund for local partners to access and deliver a Satellite Club either within a school or community centre targeting female only participants.

Satellite Clubs are extensions, or outposts of community sports clubs which are established in a new venue, usually a secondary school or college, and specifically target the 11-24 age group.

This ring fenced fund has been developed following the release of Sport England’s much anticipated ‘This Girl Can’ campaign. The National Campaign aims to get more women and girls aged 14-40 regularly exercising or playing sport, by removing the stereotypes, providing opportunities for females to take part without fear of judgement.

More details of this campaign can be found at www.thisgirlcan.co.uk

This funding will be available to local deliverers who can show evidence of demand for a female only Satellite Club within the audience they are looking to target. They will also need to demonstrate how their project will be marketed as a response to the needs of woman across the Black Country.

The Satellite Club needs to target females aged 11-25 and projects need to take place in Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall or Wolverhampton.

Whether you are a Sports Club, School or Community Centre you don’t need to have previously applied for funding nor have previous experience of delivering a sport or physical activity session, as support will be available to develop projects.

Funded by Sport England National Lottery, partners can apply for up to £3,000.00 for each Satellite Club.
